About the Course/FAQ

The golf course is an 18-hole championship course, driving range and full practice facility, including a bunker and putting green. It is located in the southwestern portion of unincorporated Palm Beach County. The golf course is a par 70 and is open year-round to an estimated 65,000 rounds. The facility consists of 135 acres of which 111 acres are the course, 22 acres are lakes, and two acres are support facilities and parking areas. The facility has an aqua driving range, two practice greens and one practice bunker. LPGA and PGA instructors are available for group and private instruction. Southwinds was purchased by Palm Beach County in 1988 and began operating as a public golf course in 1989. In 1994, the operation of the facility was contracted under a management agreement and has been under contract since then. Southwinds Golf Course was recognized by Audubon International as a Certified Sanctuary in 2009.

General Information & Operations

Is the golf course open year-round?

Yes, Southwind’s is open year-round. In the event of severe weather, we will notify all customers of any closures.

What are the golf shop hours?

The Golf Shop is open daily from 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 PM in the winter and 6:30 AM until 6:30 PM in the summer.

What are the range hours?

The driving range is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the winter season, and from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during the summer season.

How many holes does your golf course have?

Our golf course features 18 holes, with a maximum yardage of 6,100 yards from the back tees.

How do I sign up to be a volunteer?

While Southwinds is a Palm Beach County Golf course, all positions are paid. We do not offer volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in employment, please stop by the Golf Shop and request an application.

Do you have a lost and found?

Yes, we have a lost and found located in the Pro Shop. All lost items are turned in there. If you believe you’ve misplaced something, please call the Pro Shop for assistance.

Are pets allowed?

Only service animals are allowed in the pro shop and on the premises.

Reservations and Rates

How do I make a tee time?

To make a tee time, you may book online at pbcgolf.com or call the Pro Shop. Tee times are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved up to two weeks in advance. Southwinds does require a credit card on file in order to book a tee time.

How far in advance can I book a tee time?

The general public may book a tee time up to 7 days in advance. Seasonal Frequent Player Card (FPC) holders can book up to 10 days in advance and Primary Resident FPC holders may book tee times up to 14 days in advance.

What is the reservation policy for singles and twosomes?

Singles and twosomes may book any available tee time. However, they are required to ride in a cart and may be paired with other players to complete the foursome.

What are the rates at your course?

Our rates vary depending on the time of day and season. For the most up-to-date pricing, please visit our website.

Do you accept cash?

We do not accept cash at any of our facilities. Payment can be made via card or other accepted electronic methods.

What is the frequent player card?

The Frequent Player Card, exclusively for Palm Beach County residents, is a benefit card for frequent play that offers benefits such as discounted tee times and the ability to book further in advance.

Course Policies

What is the dress code?

The dress code at Southwinds Golf Course is standard golf attire. Jeans are not permitted.

What is the pace of play?

The expected pace of play is less than 4 hours. Pace is monitored by GPS and our on-course rangers to ensure an enjoyable experience for all players.

What is the inclement weather policy (rain checks)?

Our inclement weather policy is based on current conditions at the course. If play is interrupted by weather, golfers should report to the Pro Shop to receive a valid rain check.

What is the no show policy?

Players with a reserved tee time who fail to show up without notifying the Pro Shop at least 24 hours in advance may be charged a $30 no-show fee.

When should I arrive for my tee time?

We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tee time to check in and prepare for your round.

When do golf carts need to be returned?

Golf carts must be returned by civil twilight.

Does your public course use taxpayer dollars?

No, while our course in a municipal golf course owned by Palm Beach County, we are self-sustaining off of user fees and are not funded by taxpayer dollars.

Food, beverage and amenities

Is there a restaurant and bar?

Yes, we have a full bar and a restaurant offering quick food options, including hot dogs, flatbreads, and sandwiches.

Can I bring my own cooler?

Outside coolers are not permitted. However, the course can provide a cooler when beverages are purchased from the restaurant.

Do gift cards expire?

Gift cards do not expire.

Do rainchecks expire?

Rainchecks expire 90 days after issue date.

Rentals and Lessons

Are lessons available?

Yes, lessons are available from several PGA professionals on our staff.

Do you have rental clubs available?

Yes, Southwinds offers Callaway rental sets for adults and juniors. We provide two options: a standard rental set and a premium rental set.

Do you have caddies?

No, Southwinds does not offer caddies.

Can I bring my own caddie?

Caddies are not permitted, spectators will be charged an additional fee as well as sign a waiver.

At what age do you start teaching children?

At Southwinds we offer Junior lessons as well as Junior clinics for Junior’s from the age of 6.

Guests and Children

Can my child ride along while I play?

Children or guests riding along with a golfer are subject to a rider fee: $30 for 18 holes and a proportionate fee for 9 holes. The parent/guardian must sign a waiver for the child that is riding along.

Do you offer handicap flags?

Yes, we provide handicap flags for golfers as well as GPS carts with specific settings for those who need them.
